Commission Composers
On this fourth edition, under the recognition of the Ministry of Culture and Religious Affairs,
Myanmar Music Festival 2017’s focus is to highlight Western and Myanmar Music collaborations by commissioning different works, blending Western and Myanmar instruments. The collaboration between these two very different cultures of music has started since the festival’s inception; this year the commitment on this side will reach a higher level with the engagement of five composers from different countries in the production of new pieces exclusively for the festival performances. Traditional instruments such as Myanmar Flute, Circle Drum, Myanmar Harp and Myanmar Xylophone will appear on the stage. Singers of traditional songs and chants will also be featured in collaboration with Piano, Violin, Cello and Western Operatic Voice.
