ERINA IWASAKI
Associate Director
An educator and polyglot, Erina Iwasaki is the former curriculum director at Khayay International School in Yangon, Myanmar. With a background in philosophy and the spirit of an entrepreneur, she empowers her students and colleagues to be empathetic and active global citizens. Her interest lies in multilingual education and how to strengthen educational systems and non-dominant language groups to have education in their own languages as well as access quality education in dominant languages. A firm believer in the role of the arts in emotional development, she is the Associate Director of the Myanmar Music Festival. In two years in this role, she has mentored young Myanmar musicians, trained teachers, cultivated support from businesses, and forged links with musicians all over Myanmar. She reads avidly, has studied violin, and recently gave her piano performance debut in Seto, Japan. She is also a member of CISV Myanmar, a peace education organization, which builds global friendships. She is a graduate of the University of Paris – Sorbonne and Smith College and she currently a doctoral fellow in international and comparative education at Teachers College Columbia University, studying multilingual education. |
